BIOGRAPHY
Misai was born in Hyogo, Japan, where her love for drums started at 13 years old. After discovering Japanese visual kei rock band La'cryma Christi, she knew drumming was her path in life.
She began her studies with highly respected drummer Munetaka Higuchi, from the Japanese rock band LOUDNESS.
At age 19, Misai joined the all-girl Japanese band LOW HEAD MACHINE. With them she released 2 singles and 1 album, performed all over Japan and received tons of exposure online, in music magazines, newspapers and TV.
In 2009 Misai made a decision to continue her drumming journey in the US and moved to Los Angeles.
She currently plays drums for the one and only Las Vegas based, all female band, DOLLFACE. The band plays around 100 shows per year, in hotels and casinos all over the US. Through Dollface, Misai broadened her heavy metal roots and started diving in to more genres of drumming such as, pop, funk and R&B.
In 2014 Misai became the first Japanese female to be endorsed by AHEAD Drumsticks. She then became the first female drummer ever to have her own signature AHEAD sticks, which were released at her official clinics in Osaka and Tokyo in 2017.
In 2019 she became the first female drummer to appear on the wall at the AHEAD/BIG BANG booth at NAMM.
Apart from the love for drumming itself, there is a deeper message behind Misai's success as a musician. After struggling with bullying in school as a child, music became her outlet and savior. "That's the reason I started playing drums. It was a life changer, and I know there are so many people who are mentally struggling... so I really wanted to play drums to make people happy. When I joined Dollface, and saw people happy in the audience, it made me happy too. Like a dream came true!"
Known for the ability to play heavy while always smiling behind the kit, Misai continues to inspire others every time she hits the stage!
